RECAP
The Magic finish their 2007-2008 preseason on a six game winning streak by defeating the San Antonio Spurs 99-90. Orlando trailed by as many as nine points midway through the second quarter but took the lead 48-47 on a Trevor Ariza put back and never looked back.

Carlos Arroyo and Rashard Lewis were two of five Magic double figure scorers as they led Orlando with 16 points each. Manu Ginobili led all scorers bucketing 21 points for the Spurs.

Arroyo shot a tremendous 8-of-10 from the field and Lewis played a strong 32 minutes nursing an ankle injury.

As a team, the Magic continue to shoot the ball well going 51 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the arc.

The Magic controlled the glass and set the pace of the game outscoring the Spurs in fast break points, points in the paint, and second chance points.

The team gets the day off tomorrow but will get back on the practice floor Saturday as they prepare for the season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks, Wednesday, October 31st at Amway Arena.

FOURTH QUARTER
The Magic start the fourth with their second unit and Arroyo scores the first two with a fadeaway bank shot. Ginobili and Arroyo trade buckets but Foyle ends the two man battle with a dunk giving the Magic a 82-73 lead with just under nine minutes to go in the game.

With most of the players healthy and playing the Magic look good. They are playing at the pace they want, shooting the ball well, and playing with energy at both ends of the floor. Dooling nets a jumper from the corner giving the Magic their largest lead of the game at 86-73. Ginobili on fire hits another three giving him 21 points for the game and seven of the Spurs first ten of the quarter.

The Magic have four players in double figures with Rashard Lewis leading the way with 16 points. Brent Barry hits a two cutting the Magic lead to inside double digits at 86-78 with five mintues remaining. Dooling makes two free-throws and Barry answers with a three from the Tampa area. With under four mintues to go, the Magic lead 88-81. The teams trade hoops and Bogans hits a transition three-pointer giving the Magic a 95-83 lead. Udoka answers for the Spurs with a three of his own and the Magic call a timeout with 2:28 left holding onto a 95-86 lead.

Both teams enter the last two minutes with their star players on the bench to end the game. Arroyo hits yet another jumper giving him 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting. The Magic close out the end of the game with a 99-90 victory.

Final: Orlando Magic 99, San Antonio Spurs 90

THIRD QUARTER
The chess match of the second half begins as Popovich, thinking that Orlando would start their small lineup, starts with the Spurs small lineup, but the Magic come out with their big lineup consisting of Nelson, Turkoglu, Lewis, Howard, and Foyle. Turkoglu scores the first points of the half with a three and then feeds Howard for a nice alley-oop...look familiar Spurs? Arroyo hits a jumper and the Magic jump out to an 8-0 run to start the half. Parker ends it with a jumper of his own but Lewis counters with another three giving the Magic a 59-49 advantage with eight minutes remaining. The pace of the game picks up right where the first half left off as the two teams go back and forth.

You can see the fast pace game creating an advantage for the Magic as the Spurs look a little sloppy. Duncan tips in a Ginobili miss cutting the Magic lead to 61-55 with six minutes to go in the third. Duncan and the Spurs are going to need more points in the paint as the Magic are outscoring the Spurs 34-20 down low. The Magic hit a drought and the Spurs string together some points to cut the lead to 61-59.

Bogans checks in for the Magic and Elson returns for the Spurs. The Spurs capitolize on a Magic defensive three second call scoring three points and taking the lead 62-61. Lewis answers with a jumper and a triple putting Orlando back ahead 66-62. Turkoglu takes advantage of a defensive mistake by the Spurs drilling a three from the top of the key. Timeout Spurs with 2:20 left in the third and the Magic leading 69-64.

Ariza comes in for Orlando and Bogans nails a three as the Magic continue to shoot extremely well from beyond the arc going 8-of-13 so far tonight. Ariza closes the quarter with a jumper increasing the Magic lead to 76-68.

End of Third Quarter: Orlando Magic 76, San Antonio Spurs 68

SECOND QUARTER
The Magic open the second with Arroyo, Dooling, Turkoglu, Garrity, and Foyle. The Spurs start with Darius Washington, Manu Ginobili, Ime Udoka, Brent Barry, and Francisco Elson. Elson scores the first bucket and coverts a three-point play giving the Spurs a 31-22 advantage. The Spurs come out in a full-court press but Carlos makes them pay with a nice dish to Foyle for a dunk. Garrity strokes a three and Popovich wants to kill the momentum and calls a timeout with his team leading 31-27 with nine mintues left in the half.

Still no Eva, but Johnny Damon is here. Although he is sporting an amazing tan, he isn't having quite the same effect on me as Eva would. Arroyo gets a transition bucket giving the Magic a 7-0 run cutting the Spurs lead to two. Howard, Lewis, and Duncan all check back in. Duncan noticing Howard's new found jump shot, shows him how its done by stroking an 18 foot fadeaway. Howards answers back with a baby hook but the Spurs cling to a 33-31 lead. The pace of the game has increased as both teams trade buckets. You have to think this pace favors the Magic. Popovich notices this and calls a timeout with his team still ahead 38-33.

Howard splits a pair of free-throws, Arroyo gets a bucket and the Magic cut the lead to 38-36 with under four left in the half. Lewis drives to the hole strong finishing over Duncan and Dwight gets a monster tip dunk to tie up the ballgame at 40 at the two minute warning.

Parker breaks the tie with two free-throws but Rashard answers once again tieing the ballgame. Ginobili hits a three and Bowen converts a layup and before you know it, the Spurs jump out to a 47-42 lead with a minute left. Arroyo answers with two buckets of his own cutting the lead to one. The Magic control the ball for the last possession and get a bucket by Trevor Ariza to end the half with a 48-47 lead.

Halftime: Orlando Magic 48, San Antonio Spurs 47

FIRST QUARTER
Welcome Magic Fans for tonight's final preseason game against the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Coming into tonight's matchup, I hoped three important questions would get answered. One...how will the Magic perform in their final dress rehearsal? Two...who will play and who will be in street clothes? And most importantly...will Eva Longoria be in attendance? No sign of Eva, but the game does get underway with Orlando controlling the opening tip.

As stated below, the Magic start their small lineup featuring Jameer Nelson, Keith Bogans, Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and Dwight Howard. The Spurs answer with Tony Parker-Longoria, Michael Finley, Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, and Fabricio Oberto.

Jameer opens the game with a three from the top of the key. Rashard tests his sore ankle early to no avail as Duncan stuffs his Lewis' hook attempt. Parker-Longoria splits a pair of free-throws and Turkoglu answers giving the Magic an early 5-1 advantage. Parker and Duncan score back-to-back hoops but once again Turkoglu answers putting the Magic ahead by one at 7-6. A fast break leads to a Howard tip dunk. Oberto answers but Bogans counters with a triple. Rashard ankle looks good as he slashes to the hoop for an easy layup.

Six minutes remain in the quarter and we have yet to have a stopage in gamplay. Duncan hits a pair of free-throws, Finley hits a three but the Magic lead 16-13. The Spurs score back-to-back hoops. Finally, a timeout by the Magic. The Spurs lead 17-16.

Ariza enters the game for Turkoglu. The Spurs counter with their small lineup as Manu Ginobili checks in for Oberto. Lewis with a nice feed into Dwight who gets fouled. Dwight misses both and the score remains 17-16 Spurs. Both team come out shooting well tonight converting on 50 percent of their field goals. They trade baskets with three minutes remaining and the Spurs clinging to a one-point advantage.

Dooling sees his first action on this preseason and makes his presence felt by deflecting a Ginobili pass causing a turnover. Parker nails a corner jumper and then comes down the next possession crossing over Dooling drawing a foul. Parker splits the pair and gives the Spurs a 22-18 lead with under two minutes left in the first. Jameer sinks two free-throws but Ginobili answers with a fadeaway 18-footer. Lewis heads to the line and makes both. The Magic force a turnover and Nelson drives the lane but misses at the buzzer. The Spurs lead at the end of one, 24-22.

End of First Quarter: San Antonio Spurs 24, Orlando Magic 22

SHOOTAROUND
The Magic entered today's shootaround with two major challenges for tonight's last preseason game...1) Establish continuity between players who have consistently been in the lineup with players coming back from injuries...2) Accomplish number one while facing the defending NBA Champions.

"I don't expect we will flow as smoothly number one and number two the competition is outstanding tonight," added Coach Van Gundy. "We have had a good flow with the guys who have consistently been in the lineup for us, but tonight we will throw in guys who haven't seen much action, so that will muck this up a bit."

The good news is that Keyon Dooling, Trevor Ariza, and Rashard Lewis are back in the lineup for the Magic.

"I am not 100 percent yet," said Lewis. "I think with our first game next week, it will be good for me to get out there regardless."

Despite having injuries and mixed personnel at times, Van Gundy will conclude the preseason with the same lineup he started the first preseason game. The lineup includes Jameer Nelson, Keith Bogans, Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and Dwight Howard.

Van Gundy continued, "The main goal tonight is to get them all out on the floor, shake the rust of a bit, and get into a flow with the rest of the team."

Trying to detour that flow tonight will be San Antonio Spurs who are a team in which Van Gundy would like to model his Magic after.

"San Antonio is obviously a model team and they are the most advanced team in the league by far with the way they execute and play on a consistent basis."

Van Gundy elaborated on his opponent tonight.

"No other team in the league knows their team better, not to mention they are extremely well coached and they are at a level that every team in the league is striving for."

The Magic will also be striving for their sixth straight victory as they prepare for the seven o'clock tip-off at Amway Arena.

PREGAME
The Magic will conclude the 2007-2008 preseason by hosting the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Each team enters Thursday's contest on winning streaks with the Magic winning their last five games and the Spurs winning their last four.

Orlando has had a successful preaseason thus far under first year head coach Stan Van Gundy's up-tempo style of basketball. The Magic are getting it done on both ends of the floor averaging 104 points and holding their opponents to 87 points per game.

Furthermore, the Magic have improved their three-point shooting tremendously increasing their attempts while shooting a better percentage.

Five Magic players average in double figures with Dwight Howard leading the way at 18.8 points per game.

San Antonio has picked up right where they left off posting a preseason record of 4-1. In those five games, the Spurs have averaged 101 points while only giving up 91 points to their opponents.

The big three for San Antonio, Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, and Tony Parker, are averaging 16.8, 10.5, and 8.0 respectively in limited playing time.

Each team has excelled in the areas of three-point shooting and rebounding.

As mentioned above, the Magic are shooting well from beyond the arc (43%), and the Spurs are shooting slightly better at 45 percent.

Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan are two of the NBA's top rebounders and have paced their teams to a seven rebound a game advantage over their respective opponents.
